Cow Share Program
Our Farm and Dairy, LLC is family owned and operated. We are a dairy offering shares in it's milking herd so that you can have your own source of fresh unprocessed (raw) milk. In Michigan, only cow owners can drink raw milk. What we do is manage a herd of cows owed by several people. Owners pay to purchase a share of the dairy herd. This is true ownership and you may buy as many shares as you like and sell them at any time. A monthly boarding fee is charged for the cost of feeding, housing, milking and caring for your share of the herd.
All cows are fed 100% organically and grazed in season with management intensive rotational grazing. This allows the cows to receive plenty of fresh air, sunshine, exercise and grass.
We do not use antibiotics or growth hormones. All cows are tested free of brucellosis, TB and Johnes. We use only organic and homeopathic treatments.
Most people organize themselves into milk groups, taking turns picking up each others milk. For instance, in a group of five people you would only have to get milk once every five weeks, the rest of the time it would be brought back to your area by another group member. We may have a group in your area.
Milk is tested on site and off site. Twice daily milking is done in a Grade A comparable milking parlor and milk house. All milk is filtered and never touches open air or our hands, it goes from the cow, through stainless steel pipes and into a bulk tank.
